Where to Go the Songkran Festival Celebrations

Bangkok
The Songkran is celebrated in deferent parts of Bangkok which happens to be the capital of Thailand with magnificence. The official opening ceremony is held in a famous Buddhist temple called Wat Pho which houses the golden enormous reclining Buddha. A Buddha image popularly referred as ‘Buddhasihing,' is brought out on the first day of the festival from the National Museum to the streets along Sanam Luang (which is located opposite of the Grand Palace) so that the residents can sprinkle water on it. The image will be there for three days.

Chiang Mai
Chiang Mai hold’s the largest Songkran celebration in the whole of Thailand. They call it the Chiang Mai Songkran Festival. The celebration is observed across the entire city, and it begins on 12th of April with a parade around the city. As part of the celebrations marking the, there is Songkran water festival; there are events like cultural parties, traditional shows, street food and citywide throwing of water.  Both Chiang Mai Gate and the Thapae Gate remains the most notable venues for water throwing although other events are marking the Songkran water festival around the canals, the moat, and the Ping River.

Phuket
The Phuket town also witnesses Songkran wet street parties with light water fights around 10 a.m. These parties escalate to water dogfights in the afternoon, especially in Karon, Patong, and Kata. The parties conclude with a full-scale wet war zone in Bangla road until late evening. The multitude is separated into two groups: those that are in the pickup trucks by the side of the road with cold water beds splashing water at passers-by and those with water ammunition by the roadside ready to fight back their counterparts inside the pickup trucks. Is that fun-filled?

Pattaya
The famous water festival lasts for one week in Pattaya with long combat that begins a week before the commencement of the main festival and continues until days after the conclusion of the festival. The beach road if jam-packed with foam parties, high-pressure soakers, and buckets of freezing water. Throughout the week, there are occasional waylay points along the streets which are common in the nearby bars from where it gradually aggravate into a full-scale water war. 

Koh Samui
If you are Thailand Island bounding, the most exceptional island to enjoy Songkran is Koh Samui. The celebration model in this city is a much friendlier than the Pattaya or Phuket beach event; though also remains of the best locations for the water festival. You can as well make your way to the Chaweng Beach for the beach celebrations or Soi Green Mango.
